Hello, everyone! Most people call me Vic, and I'm the proud owner and baker at Sweet Victory, a name that holds a story of my journey filled with resilience, laughter, and of course, delicious sweets. What started out as a request for a Red Velvet cake from a friend, in 2019 I was able to turn my love of the food industry and serving people into a thriving business. Sweet Victory began in my parents' home with the support of incredible local businesses like Cricket Wireless, and an amazing circle of family, friends, and community. Fast forward to 2023, and my dream has expanded into a brick-and-mortar location that’s all about spreading "community" through every bite.
I’m an entrepreneur who loves to travel, cook, crack jokes, and most importantly, spend time with family and friends. Life for me is about enjoying every moment and turning those moments into memorable experiences - whether through enjoying a meal together, vacationing to a new place, or the simple act of baking a cake that brings a smile to someone's face.
I owe an immense debt of gratitude to my entire support system. My parents Rev. Freddie and Melinda Wicker, first and foremost have been the pillars of strength and encouragement. They believed in my dream so much that they transformed their home into the first Sweet Victory bakery, a testament to their love and faith in me. This journey would not have been possible without my close friends, my dedicated vendors, and my AMAZING "cake-head" customers, whose loyalty has never wavered. The blessings I've received from my supportive network are countless.
The road to Sweet Victory was not paved with ease. The past four years have been a testament to perseverance, filled with trials, errors, and yes, a few disaster cakes along the way. There were moments of doubt and times when giving up seemed easier. Many of you know I was only seconds away from going back to McDonalds (ha-ha). But it was the support of my loved ones and loyal customers that kept me going. You all saw potential in my failures, offering me second chances and encouraging words that fueled my determination to succeed.
To anyone out there hesitating to chase their dreams, remember this: it's okay to be nervous, it's okay to fear failure, but don't let those feelings hold you back. Stepping out on faith and embracing the possibility of failure is better than living with the regret of never trying. I'm living proof that resilience and support can turn dreams into reality.
As I continue this journey, I am humbled and honored to serve not only my hometown of Newberry but also the broader Metro Columbia and Metro Greenville areas.
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey. Your support, laughter, and love have made Sweet Victory what it is today - a place of joy, community, and, most importantly, delicious desserts. Here's to many more years of sweet victories together!
